Apple’s Multi-million Dollar Antenna Test Lab
July 17th, 2010
I was quite surprised at the look and design of Apple’s antenna test lab which holds $100M of state of the art equipment. It reminds me of first year design studio – a space I never would have thought existed in the real world.
Ha, good to know your iPhone is going under rigorous testing – rubber bands do the trick.
Each chamber is connected to racks of equipment that simulate actual cellular base stations, wi-fi networks, bluetooth devices and GPS satellites.
The walls are lined with a carbon-impregnated foam that eliminates any extraneous variables from within the room like signal bounce.
