DJ Earworm Mashups

June 19th, 2010

I’m wondering what the difference between a megamix and a mashup is… which is what Earworm has created:

Awesome mixes, nice music video mashups to boot.

Archidose on AAA

June 12th, 2010

There is an insightful post over at Archidose about architecture being used to advertise automobiles (AAA):

But beyond a two-dimensional graphic composition on the page or screen, I’m having a hard time seeing how architecture and automobiles relate in this and other ads. I think, like anything, architecture is seen as just another commodity and buildings are appreciated for its imagery more than its other traits (function, relationship to place, social role, etc.).

The Ambient Life

June 8th, 2010

Martijn Hogenkamp was part of the ‘Freeband. The Ambient Life’ motion graphics team. Stylistically, it reminds me of Mirror’s Edge. About the project, Hogenkamp mentions:

The results of the Freeband Communication research program should be visualized in a compelling film. I approached the material using infographics to explain the vast quantities of data. To create a relationship with the continuing technology the film starts with a minimalist introduction in a narrow color spectrum and gradually transitioned to an abundant, multicolored world.

We Choose The Moon

Awarded ‘Site of the Year’ by TheFWA? I’d have to agree! An observation: there are a whole lot Flash sites winning awards… and not a whole lot of pure HTML sites.

MY DESK IS 8-BIT

June 3rd, 2010

Alex Varanese has produced this awesome video. The soundtrack really brings it to life! About the work he says:

I recently found myself wondering what a video game might look like in the form of a stop motion animation. While a normal person’s response to such a question would of course be “who gives a shit?” I possess few of the qualities typically associated with normalcy and was irrevocably compelled to find out. This is the result.
